Free Intellectual Property (IP) Assignment Template George October 19, 2014 Legal I’ve added a pretty handy document here that I have used a number of times with contractors and other people doing any kind of work for my company. This template is suitable for use between a company incorporated and registered in England and Wales and an individual founder or individual consultant. The agreement envisages that the founder / consultant assigns all intellectual property created for the company for no fee. The text in square brackets and highlighted in yellow indicates that information needs to be added or confirmed. Please ensure that all square brackets are completed and removed prior to signing the intellectual property assignment. This template intellectual property assignment is not a substitute for legal advice and may need to be tailored to the circumstances of the assignee and the assignor in order to maximise the legal protection it offers. In particular, the agreement may need to be amended to capture and record specific intellectual property rights (especially registered intellectual property, such as trade marks and patents). Please note that this agreement may not, in itself, transfer full legal ownership of registered intellectual property rights. In addition, this agreement is not suitable, without further amendment, for use with a company that has been commissioned to produce works for the company.
