Facebook hits 1 billion mobile monthly active users George January 29, 2014 Facebook “It was a great end to the year for Facebook,” Mark Zuckerberg , Facebook cofounder and CEO, said in a statement, before alluding to the company’s upcoming 10th anniversary next week. “We’re looking forward to our next decade and to helping connect the rest of the world.” Facebook now has 945 million mobile monthly active users and is quickly approaching the one billion mark. Facebook announced on Wednesday that mobile ads accounted for the majority – 53% – of its total ad revenue in the fourth quarter of 2013. That’s the highest yet. In the previous quarter mobile ads hit 49% of total ad revenue. A year earlier, mobile ads only accounted for 23% of total ad revenue. So we have to give it to Zuckerberg – the strategy is paying off – and the company is monetizing incredibly well on its core mobile platform. The social network now has 1.23 billion monthly active users – that’s up 16% over last year. But get this, Facebook’s daily active users rocketed up 22% to 757 million. In 2013 Facebook generated $7.87 billion in revenue. That’s up 55% since 2012.
